Kim focuses her practice on employment law.
She represents both individuals and employers in a wide range of employment law and benefits matters, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, whistleblower, the Family and Medical Leave Act, wage and overtime violations, wrongful termination, short-term disability benefits, long-term disability benefits. Kim also advises and represents clients with severance agreements, executive agreements, and restrictive covenants, such as non-compete and non-solicitation agreements. Kim’s practice encompasses all aspects of the employment relationship—from hiring to termination and post-employment issues. As a Registered Civil Mediator, Kim also mediates employment related disputes.
Kim represents clients in litigation before federal and state courts, and before government agencies and tribunals, such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Merit Systems Protection Board, the Indiana Civil Rights Commission, the State Employees’ Appeals Commission, the Department of Labor, and the Indiana Wage and Hour Division.
Prior to joining Katz & Korin, Kim was the founding member of Jeselskis Law Offices, LLC, and operated her own firm for seven years. Before opening her firm, Kim practiced law at Macey Swanson and Allman. Kim also lived and practiced law in Arizona following graduation from law school until returning to Indiana in 2002. Throughout her legal career, Kim’s practice focus has been in employment law.
Kim received her B.S. in Psychology, Cum Laude, from Ball State University in 1995, her M.A. in Psychology from Ball State University in 1997, and her Juris Doctor from Valparaiso University School of Law in 2000. She is admitted to practice law in Indiana and Arizona, before the District Courts for the Northern and Southern District of Indiana, the District Court for the District of Arizona, the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the US Supreme Court.
Kim is an active member in the legal community and has served in various leadership roles with a number of professional associations. She is currently a council member on the Employment, Benefits and Labor Law Council for the Indiana State Bar Association, a committee member on the Employment and Labor Law executive committee for the Indianapolis Bar Association, a member of the National Employment Law Association, a board member for Indiana NELA, and a member of the American Bar Association. Kim’s passion for employment law has been recognized and highly regarded by her peers being selected as an Indiana Rising Star (2011-2013), an Indiana Super Lawyer (2015-2017), and for The Best Lawyers in America (2016-2017).
Aside from practicing law, Kim helps her husband operate their family-owned business, KDW Marketing. In 2016, Kim also became a certified life coach. In her down time, you can find Kim relaxing with her husband and their three Boston Terriers (Marvin, Smalls, and Lila), practicing yoga, or spending time outdoors with a good book.
